48°C Public.Art.Ecology Festival

12 – 21 December, 2008

48°C Public.Art.Ecology, a combined initiative of Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan and GTZ, was an experiment set within the capital metropolitan city of Delhi. The ambition of this project was to interrogate the teetering ecology of the city through the prism of contemporary art.

The festival attempted to draw a diverse public into the world of this critical imaginary by using a number of art interventions and screenings of related documentary films in various public spaces around Delhi. The films were primarily about urban life and technology versus the environment, as well as those about people from all layers of society trying to deal with the rapid changes all over the world, especially in India.

Magic Lantern Foundation helped to curate films from Under Construction and also helped the organisers to procure them from other independent filmmakers.

‘Q2P’ & ‘Delhi – Work in Progress’ by Paromita Vohra, ‘Tunin’ Technology to Ecology’ by Izzy Brown, and ‘Bushman’s Secret’ by Rehad Desai, were the Under Construction films that were screened at the festival.
