This Indo-French Documentary Film Festival was organised by The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, The English and Foreign Languages University (EFL), The University of Hyderabad, Documentary Circle of Hyderabad and Anveshi Research Centre For Women’s Studies, with the support of The Frech Embassy in India.
The festival was held at different venues, such as Raman Audotorium, University of Hyderabad, Gachi Bowli and Gokak Auditorium, The EFL University, Tarnaka, between 14 and 16 March 2008, followed by a workshop on 17 and 18 March 2008.
The festival screeed 25 documenatries, from India & France, out of which Under Construction contributed with ‘Coding Culture’ by Gautam Sonti and ‘Way Back Home’ by Supriyo Sen. All the Indian directors were present for the screening of their films.
The film festival was followed by workshops by filmmakers Amar Kanwar and Gargi Sen at the EFL University. There was an encouraging response from audience, comprising mainly of students, academics and filmmakers, and the seriousness with which they watched the films and became involved with discussions and workshops made the festival special. Under Construction also displayed its films during the film festival.
